Sunset at Toroweap Grand Canyon National Park

Toroweap

Its an eerie feeling being the ONLY person at such a remote and awe inspiring vista. But that was the scenario in January of 2010 after a harrowing muti-hour off-road drive that included spots of 12 inches of mud that could have easily stranded me in the middle of nowhere with no cell phone access. The so-called risky 4×4 locations were a walk in the park compared to navigating mud bogs due to melted snow. That was all forgotten when sunset put on an amazing light show by any standard. Truly one of the most amazing scene’s I have witnessed. Within 30 minutes, it was pitch black and I needed to hunker down for a -4 deg C night in the back of my vehicle. A 1000 ft drop 100m to one side and nobody for 100 miles in the other directions. Amazing and Eerie!
