The Acropolis at dusk glows as its lights come on above the trees and hillside of Athens. The Acropolis and Parthenon and world renowned. This UNESCO World Heritage site had long been atop my bucket list to photograph. My opinion is that Blue Hour, after sunset, and when the monument is lit, reveals this marvel in its most dramatic form. The history of this site is just amazing. The Parthenon, the main structure was was constructed between 447 and 432 BC as a symbol of Athenian democracy and victory over the Persians. Over the centuries, it has served as a temple, a church, a mosque, and even a munitions storehouse. It suffered significant damage in 1687 when an explosion destroyed most of it. The restoration project has been on-going since 1975.
