Gargoyle and Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre from Notre Dame Cathedral Paris France

Notre Dame Gargoyle

Notre-Dame Cathedral, is one of the most iconic landmarks in the world. My photos are taken before the tragic fire in 2019. The gargoyles adorning the cathedral serve both a practical and decorative purpose. Practically, they act as water spouts, directing rainwater away from the building to prevent damage to the stonework. Decoratively, they add to the cathedral’s eerie and mystical aura. I certainly hope they remain intact after the fire. They provide super foregrounds for panoramic vistas for Paris including Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre, Eiffel Tower and River Seine.
