The popularity of Oia sunsets are world renowned. This framing is from the location at Castle of St. Nicholas. Just 30min prior, this location was packed literally shoulder-to-shoulder with tourists. With my tripod and photo bag, I could hardly fight through the current of people as they left minutes after the sun dipped below the horizon. I skipped the actual sunset here and targeted “Blue Hour” as it provides some of the best times to photograph cities in my opinion. The lights come on to illuminate the buildings while there is still a hint of light in the sky. You need a good tripod and camera as you will have longer shutter exposures, but with this plan, I created one of my favorites photos.
