Standing under Manhattan Beach Pier, the pilings frame the sunset as waves rush past. Sunsets on the California coast are sublime. Match that with the the oldest pier on the west coast, Manhattan Beach Pier, crashing waves and nice sunset, resulted in one of my favorite shots. I had to anchor my tripod deep in the sand as the shot I wanted meant the waves would rush past me a bit. Goes without saying I got a couple good soakers, but it was worth it. The longer shutter speed helped with the sense of motion in the rushing water.
