Sunrise at Zabriskie Point Death Valley National Park

Zabriskie Point

Zabriskie Point in Death Valley National Park is one of the parks most iconic locations. Its a striking viewpoint that offers a stunning panorama. The terrain is characterized by its rolling, eroded badlands, composed mainly of yellow and gold-hued sedimentary deposits known as the Furnace Creek Formation. I have photographed at this location several times, and the typical location to take the postcard is a short hike from where you park. For this composition, I had noticed a hill several hundred yards to the right that I thought would enable a bit of a different perspective on this iconic spot. After a brisk hike and a bit of sweating before sunrise, I was fortunate to have the location all to myself.
